These toys that can be used indoors and outdoors enable to improve the mental health of pets. These come in various types like fetch, flying, chewable for teething puppies, stuffed models etc. that offer endless fun to the canine. However, the play models are expensive and do not tend to last for a long period of time. As a result, home-made toys are the best and economical choice to keep pets entertained.
Process of making different home-made dog toys:
To make a fleece model, it is first necessary to choose the right fabric like sweatshirt fleece, fake fur, faux lamb etc. Following this, design some patterns in the shape of a bone, tree, steak, ball on a paper leaving ½ inch all the way around the seam. The cut out then needs to be pined on the material and stitched together. However, it is essential to leave few inches unstitched for stuffing purposes. The model then needs to be stuffed with polyester fiberfill material or with cheap materials like newspapers, dead leaves, clean rags etc. On the other hand, for a chasing model attach a rope or twine to a rag or broken play item. The rope needs to be tightened at the centre and dragged along the surface for the pets to chase. Further, a handle to the rope can be created using either a dowel or PVC pipe.
Similarly, a variety of toys can be made for aggressive type animals. For instance, to make a t-sick will require things like a stick and old cotton t-shirt. The stick needs to be wrapped around with the shirt and properly held in place with a duct tape. The tape should cover the whole stick to prevent injuries. While for bottle with fun favorite foods of the animal needs to be placed in the bottle and screwed with a tight lid using either a shoe lace or rope. This play model will not only provide immense fun but will also enable to reduce the destructive nature in animals.
Tug games can be developed by cutting an old fleece type blanket into 4†wide strips and then converted into thick 1†size rolls. Once the rolling process is complete, jointly tie three strips into a single knot from the where the tug is set. Subsequently, braid the strips into a long plait and tie a knot at the end. During the process of braiding, balls can be added by passing the middle strand of the tug through a hole drilled in the ball. It can thus be regarded that dog toys can be created in a simple and affordable manner at home.
